Kathmandu, Nepal, 16 October 2026: On the auspicious occasion of Navdurga Navratri, the Self Awakening Mission volunteer team in Kathmandu, Nepal distributed Samose, Rasbari and Jalebi as prasad on 16 October 2026. A team of three volunteers carried out the Prasad Distribution sewa. Every SAM sewa begins with a shared chant and closes with a forgiveness prayer.

Prasad for the festival of Navdurga Navratri

Navdurga Navratri is a time when many families in Nepal and across India visit temples, keep fasts and share food as an offering. Prasad, the blessed food that is shared after prayer, carries this spirit of togetherness from one household to another.

On this occasion, the volunteers prepared and distributed Samose, Rasbari and Jalebi. Each item is a familiar sweet or snack, and sharing them during the festival gives people a simple way to take part in the celebration.

How the Prasad Distribution sewa was carried out

The sewa was carried out by a team of three Self Awakening Mission volunteers. Before the distribution, everyone present chanted "Om Shree Paramhansaaye Namah" together, as is done in every SAM sewa.

The distribution was followed by a forgiveness prayer (maafi prarthana), which is offered at the close of each SAM sewa. The prayer gives the team and those present a moment to pause and reflect on the day's service.

Why regular sewa matters in Kathmandu

Small acts of sharing, such as handing out prasad during a festival, may look modest, but they bring people together in a shared moment of faith and goodwill. For those who receive it, a sweet offered with care can be a reminder that the wider community remembers them during important days.

Volunteers who serve in this way do so with respect and care, treating every person who comes forward as a guest in the festival. Regular local sewa of this kind helps build trust between the Mission and the neighbourhood it serves.

Join or support the work in Kathmandu

Prasad Distribution is one of many sewas that Self Awakening Mission carries out to share food and blessings with people in need and in celebration. Each sewa depends on volunteers who give their time, and on supporters who help with the resources needed.

The team in Kathmandu invites people who wish to serve to join future sewas, and invites others to support the Mission's work. Every shared sweet and every prayer adds to a community that looks after its own.
